Product Development Engineer
Job Description:
· GroupSat Solar is seeking a full time staff level technical lead (non-management) Product Development Engineer for new product development including design, prototyping, cost modeling, testing and scheduling development of solar products · We are looking for dynamic candidates who have the right mix of knowledge in engineering, product design and product development · Product Development Engineer’s responsibilities include developing flexible thin film CIGS commercial solar charger products, BIPV configurations, and power modules · Responsible for product materials and manufacturing cost estimates, concept mockups, first article build, reliability testing, and associated design reviews
Job Responsibilities:
· Quality to define design objectives and achieve cost targets · Design and develop innovative solar products for OEMs and customers · delivery of items required to pass customer requirement reviews and introduce the new products or changes into manufacturing · Effectively communicate and document results for internal and external customers · Create 3D rendered models, components and /or assembly drawings · Implement product design changes aimed at improving performance, increasing reliability and/or reducing costs. · Specify and qualify materials and manufacturing processes that meet product application requirements. · Execute test protocols for prototypes, finished products and components at company’s testing facility and/or third party test laboratories · Develop and document product application guidelines, installation instruction manuals for existing and new products · Provide technical project design and product support to integration partners · Familiar with solar industry standards, UL, IEC, other certifications · General knowledge of semiconductor device operation · Work closely with multi-functional teams of Technology, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing · Analyze competitive solar based products in the market · Transform marketing information to design requirements for emerging applications · Work as part of a cross-functional team in Product Application
Required Qualifications:
· BS degree in Electrical engineering, preferably with emphasis in materials science · Three to five years of experience in product design/development of consumer electronics · Experience with solar products, material specifications, and cost optimization · Knowledge of Solidworks, Simulation and MS Project · Excellent communication skills · Knowledge in designing consumer products and prototyping
Preferred Qualifications:
· Ability to work independently, meet aggressive deadlines and successfully multi-task · Experience in plastic materials selection and manufacturing processes · Experience in design, application, component selection and/or testing of solar modules · Fluent in Mandarin (products are manufactured in China) · Strong communication and presentation skills · Ability to document, plan and execute programs · Establish and track key reliability metrics · Ability to generate innovative ideas and approach problems from an unorthodox perspective. · Experience in working with OEMs · Innovative, result oriented, self-motivated, ability to work in a team and independently · All candidates must provide a cover letter specifically detailing how their qualifications will contribute to the product development team. |
