Hiring over the holidays
January 22, 2013 in AnnouncementsYes, hiring happens over the holidays!
The fourth quarter gets a bum rap when it comes to hiring, but if you’re a job seeker, you shouldn’t completely discount the final months of the year. December could even be the best time of year to start looking for a job. There are still the same number of jobs open, but actually less candidates looking because people are busy gearing up for the holidays.
For one, many employers want to get positions filled before the holiday season kicks into high gear, motivating hiring managers to make decisions before Thanksgiving/Christmas and have the open req’s filled before year end. The end of the year can mean less competition for job seekers, since many people put their searches on hold until the New Year in order to enjoy the holiday season.
Don’t stop networking; with all the company parties and events in the works, it’s a great time to be networking because most companies want to get people on board in January. Though it is true that some industries put the brakes on hiring during Q4, December can actually be a great time for job seekers!
Here at On the Mark Recruiting Specialists, Inc., we are working hard recruiting for positions that our Employers want filled by the end of the year! Our customers are the Global Leaders in Automotive Electronic Technologies. Career openings for all levels of Engineering, Software, Hardware, Quality, Sales and Leadership roles will be filled by years end.
Job seekers this time of the year will usually find less competition, but many decision makers may be in a more relaxed mood and have more time on their hands as business slows. In December, many companies also review staff levels and plan budgets for the year ahead, so there may be money left in the budget to add new hires before the year end, experts said.
Let’s work together and wrap up the holiday season with a new career!
