Supervisor-Electronics Development

Detroit, MI


As the Supervisor - Electronics Development you will utilize your experience and talents in overseeing the electronics department and providing support in the latest technology in automotive lighting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assigns work, supervises, oversees, and evaluates work of other engineers within the department  
  • Assist in quotation activity for new business with electronic content  
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to electronic engineers
  •  Oversees feasibility studies and engineering analysis for the new concepts related to projects
  • Oversees prototype tests and evaluations for proper performance
  •  Assigns and participates in the writing of technical reports and specifications related to projects and testing, and reviews them for accuracy
  • Responsible for group's delivery of preliminary sketches, schematics, and support creation of technical models for new design concepts
  • Provides expertise to other engineers for them to generate new concepts for technical solutions related to assigned projects, and assists the other engineers in this function as needed
  • Recommends design changes based upon results of prototype and design validation testing
  • Interfaces with suppliers and customers both internal and external for technologies related to assigned projects
  • Assist warranty group in resolution of any vehicle failure investigation
  • Knowledge and understanding of automotive electronics design and vehicle architectures impact on lamp electronics

Computer skills needed for WCA (SABER, Precise, and MathCAD)

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline, plus 5 or more years of lighting design experience; OR

Bachelor's Degree in the same disciplines, plus 10 years of experience with analog and power electronics
