A World Class Manufacturer of Automotive Electronic products is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to be part of the automotive sales team. The position is focused on analog and power products based in the Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area.  This person will be part of a regional sales team driving opportunity discovery and design wins through customer portfolio presentations, customer design proposals utilizing Company products, technical reviews and analysis, distribution partner FAE/Sales trainings, and customer debug efforts. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in high performance switch-mode power conversion and a broad background in analog design, including system clock/timing products, communication interface devices, and sensors. Experience with embedded MCU/MPU design is an advantage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance to customers on the value and strategic fit of Company Analog and Power Management product families
  • Provide all types of technical support leading to design wins, as well as on-going support for existing products and customer programs as needed. These include schematic reviews, layout reviews, board bring ups, and system tuning, optimization, and validation
  • Debug solutions in customer application on-site at customer labs or at Company Labs
  • Collaborate with the Sales and FAE team and communicate with Company’s Central Applications and Design Teams to support customer design-in
  • Maintain and develop understanding of customer’s products
  • Understand system solution design decisions and trade-offs (including magnetics, capacitors, and control loop) and make recommendations on product selection for the desired cost/benefit ratio

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience in analog/power electronics
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are mandatory, as customer interface will be a significant aspect of the job.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to take direction, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate effectively

 

LOCATION: person must reside in the Minneapolis area but they can work remote from home there.  Relocation assistance provided.

DEGREE: BSEE or higher

TRAVEL:  Travel required
