Electrical Application Engineer (3 positions to fill)

We are partnered with a global leader and manufacturer of Electronic sensing devices who is seeking an Electrical Applications Engineer with 5-7 years of experience.  This person will be responsible for all the direct (concept development, tests, organization, circuit analyses etc.) and indirect (development tools, software, theoretical studies, release, etc.) activities concerning components to be implemented in the mass production of automotive convenience/comfort products and safety sensors.  This role includes “hands-on” application based electrical activities as well as conceptual circuit development and optimization of existing HW/SW modules. The Electrical Application Engineer will report to the Engineering Director or Team Lead and will work in a cross-functional team while leading specific engineering tasks and programs.

Responsibilities:

Overall technical responsibility for the development, and design, of different types of automotive sensors.  Job responsibilities will include minor computer programming, circuital understanding for PCB/hardware competence, and data acquisition/applications analysis for capacitive products. Trouble-shooting systematic issues on-vehicle. Create or facilitate test boards for new products and/or troubleshooting of prototypes.

  • Gather, analyze, and amend electrical and electronic component and sub-component technical specifications.
  • Component technical risk assessment and management.
  • Component FA, FMEA, validation plan, and process control plan (support cross-functional development teams).
  • Create and manage internal timing plan in accordance with customer requirements and milestones.

Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft tools and office software.
  • Knowledge in LIN and CAN communication protocol.
  • Automotive engineering processing and standards knowledge, i.e. DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, ISO, JS, SAE, etc.
  • Understand APQP process
  • LT SPICE or any other circuit building and simulation software
  • Knowledge of analytical tools i.e. MatLab, LabView, etc.
  • Working knowledge of electronics (HW and SW)
  • System / Application Engineering knowledge
  • AutoCAD/ UG a plus
